Carbon additives ensure there is no toxic leaching. During the forming process of the aggregate, biochar and activated charcoal are incorporated. These carbon additives absorb any chemical or toxic compound that may leach from the plastics.

Large amounts of carbon are captured within GreenRock aggregate in the form of biochar and activated charcoal. The amount of carbon sequestered in the material is greater than the amount of carbon generated during the combined phases of the GreenRock process.
